Behold this special engagement ring – I know I would be thrilled…..not.
This is a typical example of the mass-produced, fake rings so many people will buy because they think it “looks the same” or “no-one will know the difference” It’s sad that they cannot see what we see. What is really disappointing is that they don’t decide to buy something made with quality materials and skill, even if that means a semi-precious stone, rather than a diamond. Wouldn’t you rather have a ring, made by hand, by someone who cares and takes the time to measure your ring size?
Hopefully the buying public will come to agree that it’s the maker, the skill, the quality of the materials and the personalized service that is worth paying for. Not the fake, mass-produced by machines, in who-knows-where, made to “look” like a picture in a magazine even though if you hold it in your hand it isn’t anything like the real thing.
Recommendation to anyone thinking about buying an important ring ……. get the real-deal. Even if the stone is smaller, or perhaps something other than a diamond.
If you have an example of a good quality, handmade product versus it’s poorer, mass-produced cousin please email it to me ( admin@ArtisanOntario.ca ) and I will share it with the artisan community via a Monday morning post.
